Keep Your Mouth Clean and Healthy with General Dentistry Services in New Jersey
The foundations of good oral health are brushing, flossing and seeing a dentist regularly for basic services. Starting these habits early in life is the key to long-lasting oral health and a beautiful smile.
Dr. Jerry Strauss and the team at Aesthetic Dental Care of New Jersey can help you avoid dental disease and other problems with general dentistry services like exams, cleanings and more. Our goal is to diagnose problems that do occur in their earliest stages, when they can be more easily and inexpensively treated.
Complete Oral Health
A growing body of research links oral health to overall health and longevity. It is more important than ever to take care of your teeth and gums, because it may lower your risk of serious medical disorders such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes and preterm labor.
A compromised tooth can make it difficult to eat, speak and smile. If left unaddressed, failing teeth can lead to other serious complications such as the remaining teeth shifting position, bone loss in the jaw and bite problems.
Dr. Strauss provides a variety of tooth repair and replacement options to help rehabilitate the affected tooth or teeth and restore your mouth to its optimal health. Options include dental implants, crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and fillings — all of which are constructed from the finest and most lifelike materials.
Healthy gums are essential to complete oral health and overall health. If you are at a high risk of gum disease or are experiencing symptoms of gum disease, you can have all your needs treated at our practice. Dr. Strauss’s goal is to quickly and completely stop the progression of the disease so that it doesn’t further damage your gums, teeth and other structures of the mouth. Therapy could include deep cleanings, administering antibiotic medicines directly to the gums or, in the most advanced cases, surgery or gum tissue grafting.
Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (i.e., the molars and premolars) to protect them from decay. The sealants act like a barrier to protect tooth enamel from the harmful effects of plaque and acids. A sealant can protect a tooth’s depressions and grooves that a toothbrush may have difficulty reaching.
Digital Dental X-rays
Dental X-rays enable Dr. Strauss to see the underlying structures of your mouth that a visual exam can miss, so he can identify oral health issues in their early stages. X-rays shed light on problems like tooth decay, abscesses, a misaligned bite, damaged fillings and other issues with the tooth roots and jaw bone. Although not needed at every visit, Dr. Strauss usually recommends new patients have a set of X-rays taken to establish a baseline, and yearly X-rays after that. Digital X-rays are more comfortable and quicker than traditional dental X-rays, and reduce the amount of radiation patients are exposed to.
